700 participate in 3rd Breast Cancer Walk,

Uniting supporters of all ages from the community

Breast Cancer Pink RibbonThe third annual “Health Partners” Breast Cancer Awareness Walk felt like a celebration of life as more than 700 individuals, families and members of the medical community joined on the campus of St. Joseph’s Wayne Hospital to promote early detection and treatment.

The three-mile walk took place under a blue, sunny autumn sky, which formed a perfect backdrop for the event.

The event has grown larger every year since it was first held in 2012. There was a festive atmosphere as tables of promotional items were given away and elaborate gift baskets were raffled for the cause of breast cancer awareness and treatment.

Wayne Mayor Chris Varagano addressed the crowd before the walk.  He acknowledged event co-chairmen David Rasa MD and Dov. Gorshein MD and thanked the major sponsors, which included High Mountain Health Medical Group, University Imaging, Sovereign Oncology and St. Joseph’s Wayne Hospital.

The event is held to raise funds, as well as awareness, on behalf of the St. Joseph’s Wayne Hospital Foundation.  Proceeds are used exclusively for breast cancer awareness and treatment.
